Wastewater testing
For installations discharging wastewater to sewer or to a receiving body, the permit determines which parameters are monitored, where and how often. We arrange representative sampling and testing of the parameters and produce a report matching precisely the conditions in your permit or approved elaborate.
What the service covers
- Representative sampling at the designated point
- Basic physico-chemical parameters — pH, temperature, conductivity
- Suspended and settleable solids
- Organic load — BOD and COD
- Fats and oils, detergents
- Heavy metals and sector-specific parameters
- Comparison against the limit values in the permit or the regulations
- A report with the location, time and conditions of sampling
How the process works
Reviewing the conditions
We extract from the permit or elaborate the parameters, sampling point and frequency the authority requires.
Sampling
The sample is taken at the designated point under conditions reflecting normal operation of the installation.
Testing
Parameters are tested by the prescribed methods, with documented sample storage and transport conditions.
Report
A report with results, limit values and a conclusion, ready for submission to the competent authority.
Frequently asked questions
Which parameters must we monitor?
There is no universal list — the parameters are stated in your integrated environmental permit or approved elaborate, in the monitoring section, together with the sampling point and frequency.
How important is the sampling method?
Decisive. A sample taken at the wrong point or an unrepresentative moment yields a meaningless result. That is why the location, time and conditions of sampling form part of the report.
What if results exceed the limit values?
First we establish whether the exceedance reflects a transient condition or a persistent cause. Then we propose measures — pre-treatment, a process change, or upgrading the treatment plant.
