Permanent fall protection systems — design, installation and inspection
Where a structure is accessed regularly for maintenance, the right answer is not to improvise an attachment to whatever is nearby each time, but a permanently installed fall protection system. We design, install and periodically inspect anchor points, horizontal lifelines and systems on roofs, silos, tanks and industrial structures.
What the service covers
- Analysis of access and of the maintenance tasks on the structure
- System design — type, layout and number of anchor points
- Single anchor points on roofs and structures
- Horizontal and vertical lifelines for travel along a route
- Systems for silos, tanks and flues
- Installation with documentation of the components fitted
- Periodic inspection of the installed system
- Documentation and a safe-use instruction for the system
How the process works
Survey and analysis
We survey the structure, the access routes and the tasks performed — the system is designed for actual use.
Design
We propose the type and layout of the system, accounting for structural capacity and the required fall clearance.
Installation
The system is installed to the manufacturer’s instructions, with documentation of the components fitted.
Inspection and upkeep
The installed system is subject to periodic inspection. We track the intervals and notify you before they expire.
Frequently asked questions
When does a permanent system make more sense than a temporary solution?
When the structure is accessed regularly — for rooftop plant maintenance, cleaning, antenna servicing or tank checks. A permanent system removes improvisation and costs less than repeatedly rigging temporary protection.
Can a system be fitted to an existing roof?
Usually yes, but it depends on the type and load-bearing capacity of the roof structure. That is established during the survey, before a system type is proposed.
Is an installed system subject to periodic inspection?
Yes. Like personal protective equipment, an installed system is subject to periodic inspection at least annually and after any event that may have loaded it.
