Testing of work equipment and machinery
The employer must keep work equipment in sound condition and verify its condition and safety through periodic inspections and testing. Intervals are set by the employer’s own act, or by the manufacturer’s instructions, technical regulations and standards. We perform the testing under Authorisation no. 8 of 1 June 2010 for regular testing and control of work equipment.

How the process works
Equipment inventory
We compile or update the work equipment inventory with manufacturer, type, year and testing history.
Setting intervals
Intervals derive from the manufacturer’s instructions, technical regulations and your own act — for cranes and conveyors also from Rulebook 32/2009.
On-site testing
Visual inspection, functional testing of guards and emergency stops, and measurements where required.
Report and labelling
A report with findings and opinion per item, a label showing the next due date, and entry into the register.
Frequently asked questions
How often must work equipment be tested?
The law prescribes no single universal interval. The employer sets the intervals in its own act, following the manufacturer’s instructions, technical regulations and standards. For cranes and industrial conveyors the intervals come from the Rulebook on their use (Official Gazette of RM no. 32/2009).
Are compressors and presses covered?
Yes, but not under the old Rulebook 26/1967 — it was repealed by Article 12 of the Rulebook on chemical agents (Official Gazette of RM no. 46/2010). Pressure equipment is governed by the Rulebook on its use (Official Gazette of RM no. 32/2009).
What if equipment fails the test?
The report states the specific defect and the required measure. Work equipment that is not safe must not be used until the defect is remedied, and re-testing follows the repair.
