Protective earthing and low-voltage installation testing
Protective earthing is the last line of defence against electric shock. Unlike many other obligations, the interval here is unambiguous: Annex 1 to the Rulebook on the use of electrical installations and equipment sets it at five years. The testing falls within the scope of our IT-127 accreditation to MKS EN ISO/IEC 17020:2012, Type A.

How the process works
Scheduling and preparation
We agree a slot and identify which parts of the installation require isolation for safe measurement.
On-site measurements
We measure with METREL instruments — electrode resistance, continuity, loop impedance, RCDs and insulation.
Assessment
Results are assessed against the prescribed values, with a clear conclusion on whether the installation is compliant.
Report
You receive an accredited report with findings and opinion, stating the next testing due date.
Frequently asked questions
How often must protective earthing be tested?
Every five years. The interval is set out in Annex 1 to the Rulebook on the use of electrical installations and equipment (Official Gazette of RM no. 140/2010, amended by no. 54/2011).
Does this apply to office premises too?
Yes. The obligation attaches to the electrical installation, not to the type of activity. Offices, shops and restaurants fall equally within its scope.
Are there shorter intervals for certain premises?
No fixed shorter intervals exist by regulation. In mining and the chemical industry, sector rules require a systematic inspection, maintenance and testing plan drawn up by a competent person, so the interval is set per facility.
What if the installation fails to meet the values?
The report states the specific defect and the deviating measured value. After the defect is remedied, a check measurement is taken at those points.
